it's Elementary!

it's Elementary! was designed with VR as its target platform to further its level of engagement. Students were found to be more focused on learning as when they use a VR headset, their full attention is on what they are experiencing, not what is on their phone, what is out the window, or what their friends are doing.

it's Elementary! contains various animations created within the Unity engine using either particle effects or C# scripts. I chose to portray the desired information as animations so that the user may experience the origin on the elements in real time within an immersive environment, something that classroom learning cannot achieve.

The graphics used on the periodic table, including that of the types of element formation events, were created using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. This includes ninety-four element textures and five element origin textures.

I made use of a random ‘space skybox texture’ generator published on GitHub to generate the skybox used within Unity. The texture size was altered to a high resolution to ensure a smooth transition between edges of the skybox, ensuring the user would not feel out of place if it were noticed.
